What goes around comes around as leading City Law Firm, Freshfields chooses Corian®

Between 1996 and 2000, I was fortunate enough to train and qualify as a project finance solicitor at Freshfields, the leading International law firm.

Little did I realise that over a decade later, as Managing Director of CD (UK) Ltd I would be supplying Corian® to the very place where I started out working, now known as Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer 2012 Freshfields underwent a refurbishment of their principal offices in London at 65 Fleet Street. Commerical fit out experts Brown and Carroll ran the project and called on Eric Wilson Fabrications to fabricate and install the considerable amount of Corian® specified.

Corian® welcomes clients

Four striking reception desks are at the heart of re-design. The main reception desk that welcomes clients to the firm and two further reception desks on both client meeting floors combine Bone Corian® with lacquered copper inlays in softly curved shapes.

A further reception desk maintains the theme of a layered front and soft curved ends but this time cool Glacier White Corian® alone is used to give a cleaner look for greeting Freshfields' employees visiting their in-house gym facility.

Producing the smooth curves on each of the reception desks involved the use of several different sized moulds and specialist thermoforming equipment.

Corian® and copper in perfect unison

Back up in the client meeting rooms, nearly 50 credenzas of varying sizes all continue the theme of Bone Corian® and copper inlays that was introduced to visitors at the reception. Each credenza has Corian® doors and drawer fronts as well as clad end panels to create the effect of solid and seamless blocks.

Glacier White Corian® was also used to house the seating the areas in the client waiting areas as well as for the vanity tops in the toilets back down in the gym.

The extensive use of Corian® is a testament to its versatility as it can be used in combination with other materials and can also be easily formed to add curves to the design. Its other key feature is the fact that it is so durable - Corian® is non-porous and resistant to scratches. This makes it easy to clean and maintain so it remains looking as stylish as the day it was put in.

I can't wait to go back and have a look round to see how the "old" offices are looking.....
