The latest edition of Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms Magazine features this study in white in a beautiful Manchester Home.
Architects design own home with Corian®
The owners of the house run their own architects practice - Space: Architecture + Planning
They saw this Victorian Manchester property in decline and took it on as an opportunity to develop as a project.
Lucy Popps of Earle & Ginger
who designed the kitchen says that the couple chose Glacier White Corian® as it is one of the colours where you can have a moulded sink in the same colour as the worktop.
A Corian® island for all seasons
At the centre of the new kitchen is a long Corian® island which is cleverly designed to serve several purposes. You can chat to guests at the breakfast bar or dining table or even in the adjoining living area all whilst preparing food.
The island also includes a bench where children can sit whilst mum and dad cook. We wanted something that just fell away and looked like a chunk had been taken out of it, so this design works beautifully" says Sonia Pablo Thomas, the owner.
The really clever bit is that the top of the bench lifts up to reveal storage so that any kids' stuff can be cleared away when guests are in the house.
Last but not least the island is also cut away at one end to function as a breakfast bar for adults to use. From the sounds it there have already been several parties in the new home where the island was used for serving drinks.
The clever people at Earle & Ginger seem to have got every angle covered.....
