The team at Cimitree work according to the principle of “Inspired by Nature. Shaped by Hand”. Since 2006 cabinet makers Chris Thorpe and Adrian King, have been making the very finest bespoke English furniture, kitchens and interiors. They are committed to using the very finest materials and unlike many bespoke furniture makers who work with wood they enjoy expanding their horizons to work with more modern materials as well.
“We embrace both the traditional hand skills that have served for hundreds of years as well as modern materials and technology;”
Elm, Walnut and Corian® Combined
This kitchen was created in an entirely bespoke manner for the client with “robust” being one of the key words for the way in which it was made and should endure.
“To meet the clients’ desire for a contemporary yet timeless kitchen we decided to use Elm and Walnut - both traditional materials but used in the right way within the right design capable of creating a contemporary look - burr elm was used on some of the drawer fronts for a bit of tasteful wow factor.
Corian®, practical, robust and contemporary, was proposed for the work tops and sinks.”
Always Sample First
Working in conjunction with DuPont™ Corian® Quality Network Fabricator, Wharf Solid Surface finished samples of all the materials to be used, including Bone coloured Corian®, were presented to the Client and agreed.
Template and Fit to the Highest Standards
Chris explains the process for templating and installing the kitchen and in particular the Corian® worktops:
“Once our cabinetry is fitted we can digitally template for the Corian® work surfaces – because most of the work surfaces are complex curved shapes and accuracy is essential the templating can only be done when the kitchen has been fitted. When the templating is complete the electrical and plumbing works can be carried out – appliance installed and sinks plumbed. The kitchen is then wrapped and protected to ensure nothing gets damaged whilst we are waiting the two weeks for the Corian® to be fabricated.
With Corian® installed and snagging completed, the clients are delighted with their new kitchen.”
Beefing up Your Breakfast Bar
A particular feature of this uniquely designed kitchen is the extra-thick Corian® worktops. They have been built up to 50mm depth to provide a more chunky look that fits strikingly with the earthy design that comes through from the different textures and colours of the woods.
This kitchen is both traditional and utterly contemporary at the same time – a truly inspiring feat of design and we are delighted that Corian® was able to help in achieving the desired finish so well.
