The Royal Scotsman is a luxury train that offers just 36 guests at a time the opportunity to travel from Edinburgh into the highlands of Scotland in the utmost personal comfort.
Part of the world-famous Orient Express group, The Royal Scotsman offers its guests their own "private cabin and an open-deck observation carriage from which to marvel at Scotland's finest countryside, life on board is relaxed yet indulgent".
Each cabin has its own private bathroom which is where Corian® comes in as the train seeks to ensure guests stay in luxury surroundings on their journey.
Peter Craig Shopfitting in Edinburgh did the work updating the bathrooms in the cabins. They were called in as the train company had been experiencing problems with the tiles that had previously been used in the bathrooms.
At the end of every season the bathrooms would either need re-grouting or re-tiling. Corian® has been used to clad the walls, including the showers, for the shower trays and for floating shelving.
The outcome is that after the first season of use there was none of the usual maintenance issues that had previously been experienced.
Using DuPont™ Corian® for wall cladding is a great way to avoid all the usual issues that come about where water comes into contact with tiles and therefore grouting. The result is years of low-maintenance, easy to clean usage even in the most demanding of environments.
We have been distributing Corian® and solid surface tools for over 30 years now and are passionate about providing our Corian® fabricators with the best possible levels of service. We offer high quality technical support to Corian® fabricators as well as helping them with more complex work such as thermoforming. In this News section we aim to share useful information and generally keep you up to date with interesting developments about both Corian® and CDUK.
